Christmas Gold

Just a few quick pictures from our dining room before all the festivities. :)

I've had the sheer golden tablecloth for several years, but this is the first time I've used it. The dinner plates are Wedgwood, and the salad plates are Noritake; both belonged to my mother. The bone-handled knives and German silver spoons were antique store finds. We never got a sterling flatware set when we were married, but I have enjoyed collecting old flatware. Other collections include tole trays hanging on the wall, and milk glass in the corner cupboard. The cut glass pieces on the painted chest are part of my mother's collection. I guess collecting runs in the family. :)

  23. I just saw your beautiful layered table setting on Pinterest and my heart skipped a beat! I thought the top salad plate was exactly like the dishes I inherited from my grandmother, so I hurriedly retrieved a plate and compared. The colors on your plate and mine are the same, and the floral design looks identical. The shape is not the same since mine is a round dinner plate, and the edging is slightly different (same colors, though). The center of my plate is white and there's a narrow line where your line is wider. The outer background color is an off-white (yours background colors appear the same as mine). In addition to the dinner plates, I also have some serving pieces.

On the back of my plate is a laurel wreath and a sign in the middle says "National China" so it's not the same company as yours, but the similarities are striking. I've loved using mine for special occasions, and especially for Mother's Day since my 95-year-old mother is still living. I'll ask her if she can estimate the age because I know the dishes are quite old. Thanks for sharing your lovely table setting.
